Children and School Shows

Sweet and Sour Berries:(K-2)

Linda will take the children into the world of ancient China and see the stories take place in front of their eyes. The children will fully participate in this fun-filled show making sound effects as well as the chanting and singing.

Stories include:

Stories from Ancient China: (3-5)

This is a collection of ancient Chinese stories, several of which were included in Linda’s book The Ch’i-lin Purse. Humorous, witty, and heartwarming, this show is a real treat for the students who want to learn about China.

Stories include:

  • The Clever Magistrate

Chinese Myths and Legends: (6-8):

This is a collection of supernatural tales that has been passed down from generation to generation. Linda takes the listeners beyond the world of reality where imagination soars and makes them look at things in a totally different light.

Sticky Rice and the Chinese New Year (K-12):

While this program is most often booked during the Chinese New Year season—January through February, it is appropriate for almost any other time of the year for those who desire to learn about the Chinese culture. Linda tells stories about how the Chinese New Year tradition got started, as well as several other fabulous stories about sticky rice—a special New Year food and other Chinese New Year traditions.

The Swallow’s Nest—Stories about Confucius: (6-12)

In this program, Linda surrenders her role of the storyteller to Yan Lu, one of the first students of Confucius who eye-witnessed several of the stories about this great Chinese teacher and philosopher. Humorous, witty and thought-provoking, the stories will show you the unconventional way Confucius taught his students and how he applied his teachings to the way he lived.

Draw Snake Add Feet:

Witty, humorous, and sometimes hilarious, this show presents a number of stories about Chinese expressions and proverbs. You will understand why the Chinese language is a story language and enjoy the pleasure and wisdom the language can convey.

Tale of the Western Wing and Other Stories:

— Stories drawn from Classic Chinese Operas and Literary Tales

This program includes several classic tales—The Tale of the Western Wing, My Husband, My Foe, The Song of Ever-Lasting Regret and others. The stories mostly drawn from classic Chinese opera will give you a taste of the fascinating Chinese art form—Chinese traditional opera.

Ghost Stories from Liao Zhai (a Chinese Studio):

Experience some of the finest ghost stories from the classic collection of Liao Zai written by Pu Song Ling. Ghosts, spirits, monsters of the Chinese tradition come to life in this thrilling, suspenseful and soul-searching show. Stories included: The Painted Skin, Xiao Qian, Wang Er Lang, Bridge of Dates and more.
